2 toe nails + blisters = 1/2 Marathon

I did it! I finished my first 1/2 marathon! What a great feeling and a wonderful experience. I ran it my my brother, sister and sister in law. It was amazing. We all had so much fun. Linds and I stayed together until the last 3-3 1/2 miles. She started picking up speed and I started slowing down. I ended up having to walk some of the last 3 miles. It was much harder than I had anticipated. They describe the run as "flat" but I beg to differ. There were hills all over the place!

I do not think that I have eaten some many gels and power jelly beans. (I also had my first power bar-GROSS!) I drank enough powerade to sweat it. Because of this I think it made my stomach upset. I had to take a couple potty breaks. GROSS! Port a potties are not a good thing in general and when you add 30,000 people into the mix...It is REALLY NOT a good thing! The lines were crazy. Before the race we waited for about 45 minutes to and hour to use them and then during the race it was about a 10-15 minute wait. (at least at the ones we stopped at..CRAZY!!)

The last mile was the worse. I could feel I was losing a toe nail on both feet. By the last mile they were hurting pretty bad and I was running with my toes curled. I never though I would see the finish line! No pain on gain, right?

It was a lot of fun and I can't wait until next year. We are hoping to have more family running it with us next year! I can't wait.

Yeah we did it! You deserve a niiiiiice foot rub after that! Seriously that whole run was aweful. The heat was extreme and so were the hills! I mean the first 8 miles really were ALL up hill! Crazy. I'm impressed you are looking forward to doing it again next year! I say no way, never again! Maybe your toe nails will have grown back by then. See ya soon!

Way to go Jenny. I'm not even sure I could run around the block these days let alone run a 1/2 marathon!

Hills- Jenn, there were more hills than I have ever seen in my life that my own two feet had to conquer. I really wasn't anticipating many hills at all. Dehydration can send you to the bathroom too. I know from experience. ;) Your toe nails? Yikes!!! Congrats on finishing- It's better once you cross the finish line. :) And you looked AMAZING afterwards!!

I know! I'm sorry about saying it wasn't too hilly. The changes they made were all uphill. I kept thinking, "You're kidding right? When do we get to go down?" :) I'm glad you ran it with us though!

Congrats! Those are tough to do. I've been following Charity's blog on all of her runs. Very inspiring. Thank you for your nice comment on my photoblog! I had no idea you even looked at it. I always love to hear from people. If we end up visiting TN this summer, I'll let you know and maybe we can squeeze in a session for your family. :)
