On a Quest...

I know this is a weird request but I am looking for skin care products that work well for acne. I have been doing research for weeks on the internet and every site of course says that they are the best. I have tried several different products that in the past have worked but for some reason are not working now. I really would love to hear of products that work from people I actually know! Murad had some great reviews to try with a dietary supplement...the only reason I haven't tried it is because of the cost.

Please, don't be shy!

Clearasil ultra works really well.

Sorry, I just reread your post and saw that you said "skin care" products. The Clearasil Ultra works really good if you have a spot, for general use I really like the Biore brand of cleansers and moisturizers. Just my two cents.

I had BAD acne, have the scars to prove it (you said don't be shy). Wow, I cannot remember the name of the stuff I used. My mind is gone. It's advertised on TV and they sell it in a kiosk in the mall. Jessica Simpson is or was a spokesperson for it. The bottles are green and white. Somebody reading this knows what I'm talking about. Whatever the name of it is, it works really well. What is it called? AUGH! It's driving me crazy.

Proactiv is what Erika was referring to. My sisters and sister in law had really bad acne and they tried everything, but what finally cleared it up was when they started using the bare minerals makeup. And then they just use facewash they get from walmart. Like clearasil etc. I don't know if that will help at all.

AcneFree is what I use. It is very similar to Proactive but cheaper and you can buy it at places like Costco and Wal-Mart.

I know you used the pro activ. I thought you liked it. Does it not work anymore. They have that other stuff you could try that skin ID

Lu, I stopped using proactiv while Matthew was in school to save money. It worked great then. I started back with it about 4 weeks ago and my face seems to be getting worse. Maybe it is that "it gets worse before it gets better" thing. I am going to finish of my bottles and then I might go see a Doctor.

well hey at least you can get your money back if you buy it and are not satisfied! I am sorry that it is not working for you. I hope that you find something for ya!

Well Jenny. Let me tell you, I am in the same boat! I have tried everything (within reason) Dermatologist, Proactiv, Acnefree, Cetaphil, changing your pillowcase every day, Bare Minerals makeup, etc. Right now I'm using Mary Kay and it is working wonders! My MIL sells it so I get it at 50% off, and I'm telling you, it is good stuff! My face has cleared up in like, 3 days of using it.
It's so unfair right? Here we are, mothers, I'm 30, you'll be there soon, and we are STILL BREAKING OUT!!!! I mean, I want to look young for a long time but not this way!!

Jenny, Hi! I found your blog through Liz's. It's months later, but I'll put my two cents in. Cheapest thing that has worked well for me is Cetaphil--the cleaner, NOT the lotion (the lotion is awful) My esthetician in San Diego recommended it, because the soaps I was using were overdrying my face and my skin got oily and then acne in reaction. She said after you wash your face it should not feel dry, but you should feel like you can go right to bed. Cetaphil does that and you can get huge bottles for cheap. The expensive stuff I've used is La Roche Posse. The Vitamin C potion I swear made my face look better than it had in years. But it's $50 a tube (did last about 6 months) and you have to stay out of the sun.
