"What exactly is a date?"

Last week after school, Kennedy got into the car excited to tell me about her day talking a hundred words a minute. That lasted for a few minutes and then in a split seconds notice she had her arms crossed and head down and said, "When do I get to go on a date?" I asked her with who and then quickly add, "Daddy?" She said, "Yeah!" I told her that I would talk to daddy and we would see when he could go on a date with her. I talked to Matthew and asked if he could take the girls each on a date. (This was on Wednesday of last week)

(Jump ahead to Saturday) Because of trials coming up at work and one of his associates changing jobs Matthew has been crazy busy at work so instead of talking the girls each on their own date we decided one date would have to due. Matthew told the girls to get ready so he could take them on a date. Maddie turned away from the TV and said, "What is a date?" I said well, why doesn't Kennedy tell us what a date is since she really wanted to go on a date."

Kennedy said, "...a date is when you get together and spend the night with someone." (It is good that she is 5 and Matthew and I have some time to change this "view" on what a date is!)

Maddie said, "That is not a date!"

Kennedy, "Yes, it is!"

Maddie, "A date is when you go out to eat and talk a lot!"

Kennedy, "ohhhhhh."

Matthew said that he had a surprise that included a lake. They all got ready and headed to Shelby Farms to go on a canoe ride and play around. They all had fun but the girls were sad when their 2 hour date ended. They told Matthew they were suppose to go out to eat and talk before they came home. Little did they know, the Tennessee game was coming on in 30 minutes and well, that was NOT going to happen!

Matthew said there was a live band playing because they was a BBQ going on. Kennedy was REALLY enjoying the music. He couldn't figure out how to get the camera to take a video so he just snapped this shot. Which Matthew says does not even begin to capture her jamin'!
Enjoying the trails!
Matthew had to course them to put their hands in the water for about 10 minutes. After they figured out they wouldn't get eaten by some fish they couldn't keep their hands dry!
They were very excited to wear life jackets. They thought they were cool!

That is a totally hilarious definition of a "date". I think you've got your hands full (and I know you never have anyone tell you that!!!!:)

LOL!!! I am cracking up! Wow. I'm happy I don't have girls...worrying about "dates" already at age 5!! Doesn't it make you wonder what she heard at school about dates? lol
